Xcel Team

The Xcel Program is an alternative USA Gymnastics competitive program offering individual flexibility to gymnasts and their families. Time commitment for Xcel practices and competitions is lower than that required for the Development Program. The goal of Xcel is to provide gymnasts of varying abilities and commitment levels with the opportunity for a rewarding gymnastics experience. Girls on our Xcel Team will have the opportunity to compete at multiple competitions locally throughout the competition season (December - June).

Girls on our Xcel Teams will have the opportunity to choose to practice once, twice, or three times per week for two hours at each practice. Xcel levels progress through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Platinum and Sapphire, with girls competing each level for 1-2 years. Athletes in the Xcel Program who show strong commitment and potential for success in higher levels of rhythmic gymnastics may be invited to our Development Program Team by coaches recommendation. All classes are subject to a $100 annual registration fee. Further information on Xcel coaches and levels is included below.

Xcel Levels

Xcel Bronze

Xcel Bronze is for athletes who perform primarily USA Gymnastics Development Program body difficulties and F.I.G. body difficulties of 0.1 in value. Apparatus handling is basic and less integrated with the Body Difficulties. Gymnasts compete floor exercise, a ball routine, and a rope routine. Girls are invited to Xcel Bronze from our L1 Beginners and L2 Beginners classes, or by evaluation.

Xcel Silver

Xcel Silver is for athletes who perform USA Gymnastics Development Program body difficulties and F.I.G. body difficulties of 0.1 and 0.2 in value. Apparatus handling is more complex and more integrated with Body Difficulties and choreography. Silver athletes will compete a floor routine, hoop routine, and ball routine. Girls are invited to Xcel Silver from our Xcel Bronze and L2 Beginners classes, or by evaluation.

Xcel Gold

Xcel Gold is for athletes who perform USA Gymnastics Development Program body difficulties and F.I.G. body difficulties of 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 in value. Apparatus handling is complex and integrated with Body Difficulties and choreography. Gold athletes will compete a floor routine, clubs routine, and hoop routine. Girls are invited to Xcel Gold from our Xcel Silver team, or by evaluation.

Xcel Diamond

Diamond is for athletes who perform USA Gymnastics Development Program body difficulties and F.I.G. body difficulties of 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 in value and/or higher, OR who create a difficulty value through skill combinations and variations. Apparatus handling is masterful and includes variety, risk, and virtuosity. Diamond athletes will compete a floor routine, ball routine, and ribbon routine. Girls are invited to Xcel Diamond from our Xcel Gold team, or by evaluation.

Xcel Platinum

Platinum is for athletes who have progressed beyond Diamond with composition that includes high level Body Difficulties and more complex Apparatus Handling. Platinum athletes should have clean execution, exceptional expression and performance ability. Platinum Athletes will be able to compete a floor routine, and two routines with an apparatus of their choosing. Girls are invited to Xcel Platinum from our Xcel Diamond team, or by evaluation.

Xcel Sapphire

Xcel Sapphire is for athletes who perform up to FIG .4 Body Difficulties and/or higher. Sapphire athletes should have clean execution and perform with exceptional confidence and expression. Sapphire athletes will be able to compete three routines of their own choosing. Girls are invited to Xcel Sapphire from our Xcel Platinum Team, or by evaluation.

Mari has over 8 years of coaching experience in California and Finland. She has worked with rhythmic gymnastics and also taught acrobatics, flexibility and technique for various dance, gymnastics, ice skating, and artistic swimming studios and individuals around the Bay Area. Mari is also the owner and director of AGG NorCal, the first Aesthetic Group Gymnastics club in Northern California

Hazal has over 10 years of coaching experience in rhythmic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, and ballet. She started in rhythmic gymnastics to improve her flexibility and technique for competitive dance and artistic gymnastics, and fell in love with the sport. She has been coaching since 2015. She works with the Xcel Team and Development Program Team, both as a rhythmic coach and ballet/dance instructor.

Emily was a competitive rhythmic gymnast for many years before becoming a coach. She works with our Xcel Bronze and Silver Teams, and assists with the Gold and Diamond Teams.

Noel was a competitive rhythmic gymnast on the Diana's Rhythmic Club Development Program Team through the F.I.G. level. Noel is now an accomplished competitive dancer who continues to carry on her love for rhythmic gymnastics through coaching.
